Too much licensing cost for the SQL database environment.

Outcome

After reviewing the SQL Server Environment with around 100 SQL servers, a new enterprise level environment was designed.

• All of the servers for devteststgdemo environments were downgraded to developer edition.
• A new hosting cluster was designed for the specific needs of production SQL servers.
• Many changes were implemented in production environment to minimize the licensing cost.

The client saved $300k/year in SQL server licensing, by paying a consulting and implementation fee of around $30-50k.
